3 Tips to Help You Feel Better About Yourself Right Now

If you are a grab-the-bull-by-the-horns sort, when you get motivated, you are ready to take some action! That’s a great place to be and it’s important to know what you can do to get traction. If you’ve been reading my blogs each day, then you are likely raring to get started feeling better about yourself right now.

If you've been reading the blog or following us on social media, then you know my Lifestyle Coaching program, A Pilgrimage to Self, will be having open enrollment on September 23rd for our fall program starting October 1st. You probably also know that the content I share in this blog, Just a thought..., is from the coaching program; I like to call the blog stepping stones from the PATHS of A Pilgrimage to Self Lifestyle Coaching Membership because it's all about discovering, designing, and developing an Intentional Life. Members take a sacred journey within to reconnect to their heart's desires and create the life they are meant to live...their best life.

In the meantime...

Where do you begin?

  1. Realize everyone struggles with confidence
  2. Take one action today
  3. Make a plan for tomorrow

These three tips seem super simple and that is the beauty that they have. They are very simple! Don’t let their simplicity fool you; they are effective because they are simple.

Realize everyone struggles with confidence. This is key to making the confidence playing field even. Knowing that everyone struggles is powerful. Think of the people you admire the most and imagine them struggling with confidence. Is that hard to do? Have you imagined that they don’t suffer and live in a world of sunshine and rainbows? Nope.

Everyone struggles. The more you can do to become familiar with the struggles, the easier it is to face your own and to realize that it is a common state of being. Here are some ways to better connect with the struggles of others:

  • Read biographies
  • Interview people
  • Watch documentaries
  • Listen to podcasts

Getting curious about others opens the opportunity to see that we are all more alike than different. In exploring the lives of others, we can also learn their tricks and tips they learned from overcoming their own struggle...there's no reason to recreate the wheel.

Take one action today. All journeys begin with the first step. You are not going to wipe out years of insecurity and negative self-talk by making a list of all the confidence-building exercises available and making a sweeping change. Start with one thing. Learn to do it well and then consider the next thing. Take one step at a time.

Begin with something simple like:

  • Looking people in the eye
  • Saying ‘thank you’ when receiving a compliment
  • Giving compliments
  • Wearing a bright color
  • Share your opinions and ideas

Doing one small thing to move towards confidence is all it takes to start to build momentum.

Make a plan for tomorrow. Focus on your day doing whatever it is you have committed to towards building confidence. Then make a plan for tomorrow. If you are extremely intimidated or shy, then make the plan to stick to today’s plan. If you are more adventurous, add an activity or idea to your to-do list for tomorrow.

  • Over-tip a barista and give them a compliment
  • Teach someone how to do something
  • Join a new Meetup group
  • Say hello to someone you would like to meet
  • Take the next step to invest in your personal development

Confidence is like a snowball headed downhill - it gets faster and bigger as it goes. These three tips are easy to do and will get you feeling better about yourself right now.

Until next time...

Cheers!

Lisa
