Find Fun New Things to Do That Don’t Cost a Thing

One area where many of us overspend is entertainment. After working hard at our jobs and taking care of other responsibilities, we want to do fun things in our spare time. It’s even better when we can spend this time with the important people in our lives.

Entertainment costs can really add up, but they don’t have to. Now’s a good time to change your mindset and realize there are a lot of things you can do for free. Here’s a list of fun things to do that don’t cost a thing to get you started:

  • Host a board game night
  • Go geocaching
  • Visit a free museum
  • Check your community calendar
  • Have a picnic
  • Spread a blanket under the stars
  • Go to a national park
  • Host a bonfire
  • Head to the library
  • Visit friends and family
  • See a free zoo or aquarium
  • Read a book
  • Volunteer with a cause you admire
  • Get out in nature
  • Learn something new
  • Do a craft
  • Go work out or exercise

  • Rearrange your furniture for a new look
  • Host a clothing swap with friends
  • Start a new hobby like genealogy or blogging
  • Do some jigsaw or word puzzles
  • Try meditation
  • Go swimming at a free lake or beach
  • Write in your journal
  • Play with a pet
  • Start a book club
  • Have a card game night

  • Check out free classes in your community
  • Invite your friends to learn with you
  • Watch the sunrise or sunset
  • Go for a bike ride
  • Go fishing
  • Host a themed party or movie marathon
  • Look for free online classes
  • Help a new mom with childcare or cooking
  • Set some goals and make some life plans
  • Support the local arts by seeing a school play or musical production

These are some quick entertainment ideas to consider, either by yourself or with others. As you can see, there are lots of ways to spend your time for free. You don’t have to spend a dime to have fun. Hopefully, this list sparks some ideas of your own. I'd love for you to share some ideas in the comments.

Now get out there and have a ball!

Until next time...

Cheers!
