Lessons on Intentional Living with Lisa McGrath

Well, Hello Beautiful!

happy new year

Well, Hello Beautiful!

Happy New Year!

Wow...another year. I am continually amazed at how quickly time flys. In 2019, I experienced a lot of changes with both my personal and professional life, and I’ve achieved a lot of the goals I set for myself.

As I reflect back on my life, it seems only months ago that I was a young teenager trying to survive on my own;  weeks ago I was raising my family; minutes ago I was grieving the death of my parents and my marriage; and seconds ago I experienced the epiphanies that have changed my life.

New Year's is traditionally a time for reflection, and it is a time for making resolutions for the year to come. Studies show that more than 80% of people give up on their new year intentions by the second week in February. Will this be you?

I continue to make resolutions every year, and I make it a habit to check in around July 4th to see how things are going. At that point, I can reevaluate the goals, make amends or pivot totally in new directions. Achieving our goals is a process...and it’s also a commitment.

It's great to be motivated by a new year, new month, new week, or new day, but in reality, many of us need more than a fresh start...we need a partner, an accountability partner. That’s one of the major components of my online coaching program...accountability. There is so much value in having someone to report to or check in on us as we go through the processes of obtaining our goals.

With A Pilgrimage to Self, my transformational coaching membership, accountability partners are important. As a member, you're not alone; you don't have to struggle because you'll learn strategies and tips to make it through and past obstacles along your path.

For me, in this new year, I will continue working on some specific goals. I have had some health issues in the last couple of years and I intend on recovering my health so that I'm not limited...I have an awesome Intentional Life and my intention is to keep on living it with zeal.

I follow the philosophy of the Indian Proverb, A House With Four Rooms, so I make it a priority to do something daily for my physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Because I have some specific dietary restrictions and physical therapy routines, I regularly "air out" my physical room with daily rituals. I have a goal to get 10,000 steps daily. My physical room is also about my physical space and making it a sanctuary that provides harmonious living.

For my mental room, I have a few habits that are important to me; for instance, I enjoy reading every day. As a life-long learner, I enjoy researching and learning new things, and I’m currently doing a lot of writing by publishing this lifestyle blog, ebooks, and my memoir.

My emotional room can be the most difficult to "air" out because I often feel conflicted and must determine how much to share. I have long believed that you can help and inspire others by "making your mess your message" and have used my experiences to create some of the PATHS in A Pilgrimage to Self. It is my mission to inspire and encourage others as they navigate their own journeys.

I think I feel the most grounded in my spiritual room because I have a regular meditation and prayer practice that helps me keep things in a proper perspective. For years, I’ve described a simple gesture that centers me: I put my right fist into the palm of my left hand to physically and symbolically remind me to carry more faith than fear. This practice calms me and confidence accompanies my faith.

Like many people, I get a kind of thrill crossing off "to do" items and progressive steps toward my goals. I have learned that any steps forward are better than being stagnant in one place.

For my 2020 New Year, New YOU! I will continue to create my Intentional Life based on the PATHS, the principles that allow me to live in peace, clarity, and joy. My intention is to continue to share my thoughts and mini-lessons from the lifestyle coaching masterclasses through this blog: Stepping Stones from A Pilgrimage to Self and I hope to continue to inspire, encourage, and support those that are on their heart-centered journey with A Pilgrimage to Self.

My prayer for you is that you will experience a paradigm shift and take advantage of the Stepping Stones that will move you toward the Intentional Life of your dreams. May you rely on your personal powers of faith, love, understanding, and will with each day...may you know the experience of living your truth, honoring yourself, and letting kindness ripple...

May your blessings be abundant and your year filled with joy!

Cheers!

Lisa

The life philosophy of A House With Four Rooms suggests thinking of yourself as being four rooms: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual rooms. It advocates for doing something daily for your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
