Thanksgiving...a Time for Reflection

gratitude thanksgiving

In the United States, we are celebrating Thanksgiving. This is one of my favorite holidays, not only for the food and family, but for the time to reflect and acknowledge my blessings.

This year will be a small intimate gathering with my younger son's family; we will share in the preparation of the meal, watch the traditional Macy's Day Parade, and play with the children.

Since this a wonderful time for reflection, I did want to take this opportunity to share my gratitude. I am grateful for you...for everyone who visits this blog, my website, and social media outlets. I'm grateful that we are creating an encouraging and supportive place...Our Village.

I'm grateful to everyone for the inspiration and encouragement you share with me by taking the time to read my blog, commenting, joining in the Challenges, and participating in the courses and membership. I'm grateful for those that like, follow, and share A House With Four Rooms Facebook page and Instagram. I'm filled with gratitude by all those that choose to work with me on a private or group basis...it is an honor to be a Success Mentor and contribute and inspire others to live an intentional life. It is so rewarding for me to live a  meaningful life that can make a difference in the lives of others. Thank you, for this wonderful blessing!

As I prepare to set my table, I have a wish for all of you, whether you are celebrating Thanksgiving today or not...my wish is that you find a few moments today to reflect on your blessings, look back on your life, also look forward to review your goals and aspirations, and then assess the present moments...acknowledge the blessings and gratitude that fills your life now.

One of the exercises in the Developing a Gratitude Practice course is recording 5 things you are grateful for each day; I have done this for over 25 years now and know the power of this practice. Do you keep a Gratitude Journal?

Deepak Chopra advises, "No matter what the situation is...close your eyes and think of all the things you could be grateful for in your life right now."

One of the lessons I learned while walking the Camino de Santiago, the ancient pilgrimage across Spain, was to periodically stop to catch my breath and take the time to look back at how far I had come, to look forward to what was ahead of me, and then to regain my focus and concentrate on the present moment...where I was placing my feet. This is analogous to life; we can't spend too much time dwelling on the past or hoping for the future...we reflect on the lessons, the blessings, the people, and experiences in order to monitor our progress, but we must be present in the moment, to watch our steps to make sure they lead us in the direction of our dreams.

So with this Thanksgiving reminder, I hope you have the moments to review your own progress, reflect on life, and acknowledge the blessings. May you celebrate with those you love with lots of laughter, joy, and smiles!

Happy Thanksgiving from my house to yours!

Cheers!

Lisa
