Never, Ever Give Up - The Secret Sauce for Being Brave

“Never give in- never, never, never in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy”- Winston Churchill

Quite possibly the biggest example of bravery is the tenacity to never, ever give up. It’s the secret sauce to being brave...having courage...and relying on your personal powers. Refusing to give up, as long as there’s a reason to fight, in and of itself is a great honor. The determination and commitment are a testimony to your character and give you a reason to be very, very proud. I know resilience and tenacity have certainly become a major part of my personal story, as well as my clients and members.

Making the commitment to never, ever give up helps laser focus your intentions and reminds you that quitting is not an option. Digging deeper and forging ahead when you’ve committed to the fight is slightly easier when you’ve determined ahead of time that you won’t stop. Here are a few ways refusing to give up builds your bravery, courage, and strength:

 Refusing to give up:

  • Keeps you motivated
  • Helps you try new ways
  • Gives you a reason to work hard
  • Becomes a sense of pride

Keep your eye on the prize- Sometimes the outcome is uncertain but committing to not giving up helps you stay motivated. Times can get hard but reminding yourself that you are in it for the long haul helps keep your focus front and center. Remember, one right step after another.

If at first you don’t succeed, try again- Committing to never giving up helps you try new things. In the same way, Thomas Edison failed 1000 times before inventing the lightbulb, you can try something new to solve your problem or make your situation better. Never giving up sets your determination to try and try again.

Hard work never hurt anyone- Sometimes there are limits to how hard you want to work. Refusing to give up takes the limits off the table and pushes you to work harder than you thought. Determining to see things through mentally sets your mind making it possible to work hard no matter how draining it feels.

Be proud of your commitment- Committing to the fight and never, ever giving up comes with a sense of self-worth and pride. Be proud that you are willing to do what it takes to see things through. It’s wonderful to commit to hard things that may require more than you expect to give.

Bravery looks like many things and perhaps the most important is the commitment to never, ever give up. Setting your mind to the course and making the commitment to see it through no matter what is honorable and brave and will help make you bulletproof during difficult times.

Getting yourself an accountability partner to keep you on course can be a major tipping point to accomplishing your goals.

Until next time...

Lisa
