Lessons on Intentional Living with Lisa McGrath

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Wow...another year. I am amazed at how quickly time passes; it seems only months ago that I was a young teenager trying to survive on my own;  weeks ago I was raising my family; minutes ago I was grieving the death of my parents and my marriage; and seconds ago I experienced the epiphanies that have changed my life.

New Year's is traditionally a time for reflection, and it is a time for making resolutions for the year to come. Studies show that more than 80% of people give up on their new year intentions by the second week in February. Will this be you?

I have to admit that I do continue to make resolutions every year, but I also make it a habit to check in around July 4th to see how things are going. At that point, I can reevaluate the goals, make amends or pivot totally in new directions.

Achieving goals can be difficult on your own. It's great to be motivated by a new year, new month, new week, or new day, but in reality, many of us need more than a fresh start...we need a partner. an accountability partner. Someone that not only inspires us, but encourages, questions, and guides us on our journey.

With A Pilgrimage to Self, my transformational coaching membership, accountability partners are important. As a member, you're not alone; you don't have to struggle because you'll learn strategies and tips to make it through and past obstacles along your path.

For me, in this new year, I will be working on some specific goals. I have had some health issues in the last couple of years and I intend on recovering my health so that I'm not limited...I have an awesome Intentional Life and my intention is to keep on living it.

I have some specific dietary restrictions and a physical therapy routine that continue to be foundational to "airing" my physical room, so I work them into my daily rituals. I have a goal to get 10,000 steps in every single day, and I intend to use the fitness equipment to help with cardio and balance.

For my mental room, I have a few habits that are important to me; for instance, I enjoy reading every day. I also listen to audiobooks, especially on my commute during the workweek. As a life-long learner, I enjoy researching and learning new things.

My emotional room can be the most difficult to "air" out because I often feel conflicted and seem to tread water as I try to determine how much to share. I have long believed that you can help and inspire others by "making your mess your message" and have used my experiences to create some of the PATHS in A Pilgrimage to Self.

I think I feel the most grounded in the spiritual room. I have a regular meditation and prayer practice that helps me keep things in a proper perspective. When I'm going through a tough time, I often put my right fist into the palm of my left hand to physically and symbolically remind me to carry more faith than fear.

Like many people, I get a kind of thrill crossing off "to do" items and progressive steps toward my goals. I have learned that any steps forward are better than being stagnant in one place.

For my 2019 New Year, New YOU! I will continue to create my Intentional Life based on the PATHS, the principles that allow me to live in peace, clarity, and joy. My intention is to continue to share my thoughts in A House With Four Rooms through the blog: Just a thought..., and I hope to inspire, encourage, and support those that are on their heart-centered journey with A Pilgrimage to Self.

My prayer for everyone is that they will experience a paradigm shift and take advantage of the Stepping Stones that will move them toward the Intentional Life of their dreams. At this time, my attention and focus shifts from getting the word out about the membership to welcoming the new Pilgrims in the 2019 New Year, New YOU program with  A Pilgrimage to Self.

May your blessings be abundant and your year filled with joy!

Cheers!

Lisa
